Last week: Lost to Ringgold 27-0
Wesleyan, upgraded from Private Class A to Class AAA this season through reclassification from the Georgia High School Association, opens his 7-AAA region football program Friday with a two-hour trip north to Gilmer.
Gilmer is led by a head coach familiar with the Gwinnett High School football community, Paul Standard, a longtime Dacula assistant who followed with a long stint as head coach at St. Pius. His Bobcats started 3-0 with wins over Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe (32-13), Fannin County (49-35) and Murray County (36-0) ahead of last week’s 27-0 loss against Ringgold.
Wesleyan had last Friday to bounce back from a disappointing performance on September 9 in a 42-7 loss at Whitefield Academy. It was the most recent of three straight defeats for Wolves, whose two previous losses were heartbreaking – 30-28 against Decatur on a field goal in falling seconds and 19-15 against North Cobb Christian on a long, multilateral play as the time has expired.
