All they needed was an opportunity. Will Adams and Felix Harper seized their opportunities last weekend.
Former HBCU stars have been invited to rookie minicamps for tryouts. Harper’s only invitation came from the Cleveland Browns. Adams had several offers, including the Dolphins and the Commanders. Ultimately, Adams chose Washington.
On Sunday, Harper signed his contract offer with the Browns and Will Adams turned his options into a fantastic deal.
The terms of Harper’s signing have not been officially released.

Adams’ undrafted rookie deal is a three-year, $2.5 million deal. Ironically, it’s with the same team that Doug Williams is employed on and gave him another chance to resurrect his career into an MVP and Super Bowl ringside, Washington.
Adams had a great HBCU Combine practice in Mobile, AL, before Reese’s Senior Bowl. The CIAA reported that Adams, “The former Trojan posted a 4.57 on the 40-yard dash, a wide jump of 10 feet 3 inches, a vertical jump of 40.5 inches and 21 reps in the bench press. His vertical would have been tied for fourth-highest of any player in the NFL Combine and second among defensive backs.”
Both players participated in the first HBCU Legacy Bowl founded by Doug Williams and James “Shack” Harris. NFL executives, coaches and scouts met and spoke with more than 90 players during the week-long event.
