Auburn football stars past and present react to Hoops win over Alabama

Auburn football fans needed something to feel better about after watching the Georgia Bulldogs win their first championship since 1980 on Monday night. Alabama winning its second straight title wouldn’t have been much cause for celebration, but at least it would have been the status quo. Now UA’s top two rivals are champions in the not-so-roaring twenties, and Auburn is 6-7 after losing five straight games to end the season.

But that’s football.

In basketball, Bruce Pearl has his guys knocking down just about everyone — UCONN narrowly escaped Battle 4 Atlantis with an OT victory — en route to the No. 4 ranking in the nation.

On Tuesday night, the Tigers kicked the 2021-22 season into new gear when they smashed the gates of the Crimson Tide in the second half of basketball’s Iron Bowl before the Tide made a comeback attempt missed late.

81-77 was the final, and a lot of the Auburn family had an all-time night in the Alabama men’s basketball Twitter account Twitter mentions for the final score…and pretty much everything. which was tweeted by this account.

They weren’t the only ones using the bird app and talking about that conversation after handing Alabama their second “L” in as many nights. Hear what former Auburn football stars and a future dual-sport Tiger had to say about what they saw at Coleman Coliseum, which included stereo crane kicks, a celebratory Crimson Tide gesture, when the final buzzer sounded:

The win could see AU sniff the No. 1 spot in the nation given Baylor’s loss to Texas Tech last night. It sure is great to be an Auburn Tiger right now.
