Quad City Times – Defense was hard to come by in the first round of the 6A class football playoffs at Almquist Field on Friday night as Springfield and Rock Island combined to set multiple 6A records as the ninth-seeded Senators , won 94-72.
Each team combined for 24 touchdowns in a game that lasted over three hours.
1300 yards of total infringement. 24 hits in 48 minutes. Endless amounts of big games and high octane discs. Just an absurd amount of high school touchdowns in the first round of the IHSA State Playoffs. Well done to all the high school students across the country who are here for the next two weeks trying to carve out a legacy. Truth be told, life gets worse for many of you after that final whistle. I hate being so dramatic, but it’s the truth behind American high school sports. These kids hanged 72 tonight and lost. They have to live with it forever.
Even so, you are part of the history books. It has to take some sort of black magic to give 94 points in a playoff game where you’re actively trying to keep them from scoring. My calculations show a few colon conversions and you absolutely hit 100. Imagine giving up 100 on senior night in front of your cheerleader girlfriend who invited her stepdad to watch you play in the corner. This is the lowest for a 17 year old. I hope none of you get a taste of those emotions this fall. Leave all that shit on the ground and don’t look back.
Worst 18-point loss in high school football playoff history.
Come on Brother Rice.
