5. Best Fantasy Football Pickups For Week 13 – New York Jets RB Tevin Coleman
Losing Michael Carter to a sprained ankle was a big blow to the Jets as he became a quality starter. Carter landed on the casualty reserve this week, which means he’s out for at least two more weeks, creating an opportunity for shrewd fantasy owners to add a short-term running back option.
Tevin Coleman was the immediate beneficiary of New York, recording 16 carries for 67 yards against the Houston Texans in Week 12, edging both Ty Johnson and the Austin Walter practice team in the process. Walter and Zach Wilson scored the two rushed touchdowns for the Jets, but Coleman was clearly the more reliable option here by the coaching staff.
Present in just 18% of Yahoo leagues, Coleman has the potential to become a volume-based RB2 over the next several weeks as the Jets wait for Carter to come back from his injury. New York is clearly going to try to lead football more to help lighten some of Wilson’s load, making Coleman a flexible and sneaky game for any fantastic managers who need help in this position.
